NCC - Pre-req question

I took chemistry long ago and it has expired - so I was planning on retaking it this fall. Or I can jump right into A&P 1 & 2 and retake chemistry before applying. This way I think I'll have a feel for if I've got what it takes to get in... what do you all think?

I’d suggest taking chem in the summer, AP1 in the fall & then AP2 while you’re applying in spring 2020. AP2 is the only prereq you can take while applying.

Thanks so much for the reply and I know it’s been a while. Just officially registered for chem for the fall at NCC. Couldn’t swing a summer course. Now I’m seeing that the text books I need are sold out? I’m assuming the textbooks will be back in stock later in July or August. Was so looking forward to having the text in my hand - that will make it feel even more official! If you go back and read my posts here over the years you will see that it has been a long road to get back to this point...

Sorry for the ramble - just so darn excited to finally have a chance at pursuing my dream. ?

Aw don’t be sorry! I talk a lot when I’m excited too lol & I totally understand it’s been a long road for me too. Try to do really well on the sciences since they weigh more(: & with the books, you’ll find them somewhere. I’d suggest chegg rentals depending on the class. A lot cheaper & you can get books in good condition.

Thank you! I'll look into Chegg. One of the components for my chem class I already tried to look up and it looks like it was developed by a professor at my community college specifically for that chem class so I'll have to be patient and wait in that I guess. It's the component for the Lab. But maybe I can get the main textbook for the class in the meantime. I've already waited a good 20 years to pursue this, I don't know why I'm having such a hard time waiting another 8 weeks!

Yeah I start nursing school in a few weeks so I totally get the excitement. It feels so long to get there but it’ll be here before you know it ?

Did a search of both IBSNs for my chem books - and got nothing back. Looks like they are both custom and maybe just not out yet? Grrr... ?

Nope! I got called off the waitlist at NCC (I was #11) but I’m going to UB instead since it’s a BSN. You have time! I’m sure it’ll be out soon ?

Thank you. Turns out the bookstore is just closed for inventory hahah. So I’m sure it will all become available next week sometime.

I had to take both A&P1 and Chemistry over before applying to the Nursing Program since the time had expired, so I took them both at the same time in one semester. It was rough, but I had an advantage since it wasn't new information for me. I got A's in both. If you want to be competitive you should get A's or B+ minimum in your sciences....and a high TEAS score.

I just graduated the NCC program in May. If you have any further questions feel free to PM.

I also second using Chegg. Cheap and easy. I've used it a few times. They also give you candy lol

Thank you! What was the clinical/class schedule like? Are you working as an RN now? I really appreciate you reaching out!!
