Hey everyone, Getting ready to graduate in Aug. Have prior experence as a paramedic.

Just curious how the job market is in NC. Looking at the Raleigh area, but not set in stone.

Any good areas to find a job as an LPN?

Anyone know what the pay is in hospital, or LTC?

Thanks so much

Specializes in Psych, LTC, Acute Care.

I am a New RN and just got a job at Wake Med. The hopsitals in Raleigh hire LPN's in the Dr. offices and clinics. Wake Med currently has 2 postions but its extremly competative and you have to have expereince. Rex hopsital has a rehab unit and they hire LPN's. You will make more money in the nursing homes however. The jobs for LPNs are slim to non-existant almost in the hospitals. I got my LPN in Aug 2007 and went through Excelsior to get my RN. It was very frustrating being a LPN with most opportunites only in LTC. Good luck and hope you find a job.

The pay in hospitals for LPN is about 14-16hr.

LTC 16-20$. Depending on where you go. The ones with the worst reputations pay more(sad but true).

I make $19.05 as a LPN in LTC +1.50 shift diff= 20.55

as a RN, I will make 7-9 dollars more and almost double that on the weekends.

Hi, Are there many LTC. facilities that LPN'S have a chance to apply for?

Specializes in EMS, ER, GI, PCU/Telemetry.

hey, i am a LPN and also a paramedic in the raleigh area.

DUMC, durham regional and duke raleigh hires LPNs on some of their M/S floors (which is where i am) but you have to catch the jobs while they're posted, as well as WakeMed in their ER and rehab hospital. there is also a hospital in Sanford (i forgot the name) that a girl i went to nursing school works at. Rex also has a rehab facility that hires LPNs.

you will find many outpatient centers such as endoscopy units hire LPNs also... and there are many doctors offices and urgent care facilities that also hire us. also keep in mind Dix is still open and they hire LPNs, as well as Tammy Lynn Center for MR/DD, and Carolina house for EDO's.

you are not limited to a nursing home in this area, i promise.

i make $20 an hour and i have been a LPN for less than a year. the only time i was ever in a nursing home was for clinicals in nursing school.

best of luck with your job search!! :)

Hi, thanks so much for the info. I plan on coming back to raleigh next sept. after finishing school here in ohio. I use to live in raleigh/charlotte back in 2005-2007. I'm just not real sure where LPN'S can look for jobs.

Most of the time Nursing homes don't advertise in the paper. Most of the hospitals have the postings on their website. It might pay to come out for a week and interview and job search before you move. Good Luck to you!
