Name of that surgery

Hi, I'm nursing student and I'm making a careplan I just need help in figuring out something. What do you call on a surgery that a rod is being inserted on the shoulder due to fall? I just don't have any idea at all.

This can be accomplished with anything from rods to simply screws or nails.

If the rod is on the outside of the body, it is called "External fixation." This is what an external fixator looks like...(from a pic i found on google)
