I lived in Indianapolis from 92 to 96. Muncie is about one hour drive north of Indy. It is possible to live halfway between Muncie and Indy and then take advantage of what the bigger city offers.

I currently go to school nursing school in Muncie. While Ball Memorial is the only hospital in Muncie there is also Saint Johns hospital and Communtiy Hospital in Anderson Indiana, which is only a 30min drive west. Many people also live half way between Muncie and Indianapolis and commute to Indy hosptials.. Obviously more opportunites. I actually commute to indianapolis 2x a week from muncie for clinicals.. its about an hour to hour and fifteen minute drive.. (not in rush hour though):)

Hi,
I have had friends that worked at both Ball Memorial in Muncie (which is the only hospital in Muncie) and St. John's hospital in Anderson, IN. (which is about 20 miles south of Muncie) and both were very happy with their work experiences there. I live near Pendleton, IN (which is about 25 miles south of Muncie) but I work at a hospital in Indy. If you want to PM me, I can give you the scoop on what places to avoid around here.

I worked at the VA in Indy and loved it. I did the LPN to RN bridge program at Marian College and had clinicals at Community East - now I know its called something else - but it was a good experience. Good luck.
