how much experience required for a PICC line RN

So ive been an RN for 5 months now in an ER, and my facility needs some PICC line nurses. Theyre willing to pay for training. my last semester of nursing schoolm i was in a CCU setting and we always had a PICC line nurse coming by. I shadowed him and i loved what he was doing and I hope to be like him one day. Would it hurt to tell my manager that i'm interested in taking the PICC line class or is it too early for me to do so? I'm just curious. I think they dont have the class until October. I would have 7 months experience by then. I know its more than IV's and im pretty good with IVs at this point and would love to be a PICC line nurse especially with a lot of people are now being discharged faster to the home settinng. What are your thoughts? Thanks! :D.
