Moving to the USA

Help :-)

I have just moved from Toronto, Canada to Florida. I have completed the majority of my nursing (RN Degree) in Canada and would like to finish my education, so I can write the NCLEX and practice.

Responses from various schools are confusing and I got no response from the regulating body.

Any suggestions? I really don't want to start again but really would like to finish.

Thanks

Your transcript has to be evaluated. Maybe the school is still working on it.

Either that, or you may have to pay a company to evaluate your transcript.

Most nursing schools do not accept transferred nursing credits.

You are going to find it almost impossible to get into a program in the US without re-doing most of your work. There is a requirement in most schools that if they are going to issue you a diploma, that most of the work be done thru them, not another school or in another country. And to get in as a matriculated student as this time in your program is going to be difficult.

My suggestion would be to complete your program in Toronto............otherwise you are going to waste meuch time trying to get in to a program in the US, especially if you are already in a program. Graduating from a program will permit you to sit for the NCLEX exam.

If you do not want to return to Canada, your only way around is to see if you have enough credits that would permit you to write the NCLEX-PN exam, then you would need to complete a bridge program, but again that is going to be the very long route for you, it would be much faster to just complete your training in Canada.
