Moving to Alaska. Please Help

Hello, My husband and I are about 90% sure we're going to move to Alaska. Not quite sure on the location. Anchorage, Fairbanks, Bethel? He is looking into bush pilot school. So I plan to work while he completes school. I have read some threads but I do not see any recent ones. I have been looking at indeed.com for jobs and it looks like there are plenty.... But it sounds like there are many new grads who snatch them up? I have done much research sounds like cost of living is much higher. What is the annual income of a new nurse? We live in NW Ohio and pay is $22/hr where we live in smaller town. I'm still considered a new grad. I graduated 4 months ago and do not have much experience but I'm in the process and it will be another year before we move. Any advice would be great! Once the time gets closer and we know where we're gonna move I'll be making a few phone calls to some places. Thank you! Thank you!

    You'll find the cost of living here much higher than in NW Ohio, especially if you go to places like Fairbanks or Bethel. Check out some of the threads on City-data about moving to Alaska. There is a lot of great information there.

    Anchorage would be your best bet with little experience. You'd have more options. Fairbanks get to 40 below so if you can stand that. Bethel doubt they have any store/ fast food you ever heard of lol, pay probably better there? Depends what is motivating you. In the rural places you'd probably get the most experience which is great!

    If it's going to be another year before you come up that will help you get a job -- at least a year of experience. There are jobs but most hospitals want a couple of years experience at least. If you're in a specialty (ICU, ER, OR) that helps too. You can go through a travel company. But they usually require at least one year experience, sometimes 2. Good luck.

    I make 31.13, and have been a nurse 2.5 years. Night differential is $4/hr more and weekends is $2/hr more
