Specializes in medical ICU.

I am looking to move in 2 years to someplace warmer possibly. I am sick of the crazy winters and snow all the time. By then ill have about 3 years ICU nursing experience. I would love to live somewhere not too crazy expensive and to see the ocean won't take 8 hours. I want to do travel nursing at some point to try and get a feel for where i wanna live and also explore new places, but since this is not feasible for me at this time i was looking for a good place to relocate. Any suggestions?

I am on my first travel assignment in Naples, FL with American Mobile Healthcare, and I LOVE it down here. I am from Indiana, so it is a HUGE change for me to be able to see the sun in the winter! The unit I am on is only open in season (it is open from November to May), and mostly all the nurses on this unit are travelers. I would def suggest coming here. Let me know if you want me to PM you my recruiters name/number! Hope this helps!

Well, you didn't say how far you were prepared to move, now did you?

hey I dont have pm yet, but im willing to move anywhere! I just want sunshine, with a place that has a lot of things you can go out and do, where there are friendly ppl, not insanely expensive and a decent place to possibly have a family. The closer to the ocean the better, although I realize I prob cant afford to live right on the ocean.

What agency did you travel to Capetown with?

Um, I live in Cape Town.... But there are threads here that deal with nurses coming to work in South Africa, and there's at least one member that I know of who has worked in Cape Town. If you're interested, I can PM her and ask if she minds responding to this thread, or if I can give her username....

I'm kind of new here and I don't know what PM is, but I'd love more information! Thank you

PM=personal message. Sent her one this morning, but it may take some time before she responds. Meantime, I'll look up some threads that deal with nurses doing volunteer work in South Africa, you may find some leads there :)

Yeay! Thank you sooo much! :yeah:

LadyTiger,

Hi. I am with American Mobile also currently in California. I am thinking of Florida next winter and would love to be in the Naples area. I am an ICU nurse. What hospital is it that you are currently at? I have heard horror stories about working in Florida with the ratios higher than most. Could you fill me in? Thanks so much!!
