More Curiousity...

Well, I had another appointment today at exactly 33 weeks. Ultrasound says that the legs are shorter then they are suppose to be & when hooked up to monitor, there is a good, steady heartbeat-but it doesn't increase when he moves around. They don't seem to concerned about it yet and I have an appointment in another week to be monitored again.

Brain, head, torso...all are within normal ranges. I have had an amnio this preg, so I know that Down's is out. Heart, kidneys, bladder...all are fine. They said they are sure it has been there all along & they have ruled out nutrition and lack of resources as a cause.

They made me nervous because they said they would not think about induction-"yet."

But in response to my other thread on here- I KNEW something was wrong and nobody would take me seriously. Not to mention that when I was at the office today, there was no record at all that I had been to the hospital twice this week to be seen-whcih is too bad because even at the hospital they kept talking about how the heartrate was "unreactive."

There are no obvious reasons for any of this. Is is possible that he just cannot thrive in there? Should I consider letting them or even suggesting induction b/c there is more out here they can do then in there?

I feel like my head is spinning. I am more concerned with the heart rate then the legs, but I don't know where I can get more info. I am not even sure what a normal rate is at 33 weeks.

Thanks for listening to me! You all are the best!

When you go for a non-stress test, it must be reactive (have accelerations of the fetal heart) BEFORE they let you go home. If it is not reactive, sending you for a biophysical profile ( a type of ul;trasound) is an acceptable way of checking on baby with a non-reassuring tracing.

Don't worry about rate. That can be very variable. What you need to ask is.....is my non-stress test reactive? A non-reactive non-stress tests needs immediate follow-up.

I see...thank you very much! I have to go back in one week, so I wonder if that meant that they didn't like what they saw. They put this thing on my belly that vibrated, but that didn't work either. I am going to call tomorrow and find out.

I was wondering...is it possible that the umbilical cord could be involved with any of this?

Thank you again because I feel lost in all of this!

I second third and fourth this thread. Non-reassuring HR require follow-op....right then...right now.

Do you feel your baby move regularly??

You have voiced a number of concerns over the last few weeks, regarding the progress of your pregnancy, and the manner in which your doctor's office has responded to you. If I were in your shoes, and didn't have full confidence in the people caring for me and my baby, I would request a referral to another practitioner. Perhaps you would feel better consulting with a high-risk specialist.

Good luck to you!

Oh I would love to, but they are the only ones that take my insurance & when I was calling on that, there were many concerns over taking me when I am so late and have problems.

Thank you though.

I am calling them first thing in the morning on Monday and demanding that the only decent doctor there get together with my husband and I & explain everything that is going on! I am sick of being shuffled like cattle and having people tell me all this stuff is wrong as they are look at my file for the first time during my two minute appointment. Yet at my next appointment, another doctor will tell me that everything is fine...blah, blah. So someone better sit down with me no later then Tuesday and let me know what is going on all the way around.

I have also kept the most detailed documentation of my care this pregnancy you have ever seen in your life.

Thanks everyone for giving me a place to talk! It helps me a lot!
