Monitoring program

I am new to the monitoring program here in Ohio. I was terminated from my job because of a charge unrelated to nursing, but due to the charge the BON required I go through the monitoring program for 1yr. My issue is the program expects us to work as a nurse to meet the requirements, but I can't work in the nursing field because of my charge. I'm so confused and don't understand what to do.

What's the charge?  Misdemeanor or Felony?  Is it related to assault or battery or domestic assault, anything to do with the elderly or pediatric population?  Is it related to substance abuse?  A crime related to indecent exposure or a sexual nature? All of the above matter regarding an answer.

There is the BON and there are Courts of Law.  If you have a type of criminal charge that doesn't allow you to do patient care, such as one of the crimes above, then it doesn't matter if the BON says you can work.  The Criminal Court side of things by law, supersedes what the BON says.

If your charge is preventing you from providing patient care, but the BON is saying you can work and do a one year monitoring program, you need to get an attorney and try to get that charge dropped or have an attorney get a plea deal on that charge to where it's not as serious, more of a minor type charge, and knocked down to a type of minor charge that allows you to do patient care.  Based on very, very limited info you provided, I'm only going by what you wrote.  It sounds like there's a high chance you aren't going to be able to work as a nurse until you get that criminal charge taken care of.....in the form of being dropped, plead down to something more minor, or entering into some type of alternative to discipline program by the court of which you then don't get a conviction.
