Good afternoon.

I wrote a post this morning but not sure where it is.   I've been a bit distracted.  Tired from the time change still. 

I stayed up late following the Oscars live online but didn't watch it.  Slept late so I should feel rested.

Talked to my dad and am arranging a visit for May since my work schedule is made and can't be changed.  

Spent a usual amount of time booking a flight, airport parking, a car and a room.  Both for the flight and the car I had to start over.  Then it turned out I made two reservations for the car even though it said "opps something went wrong..try again" so I called to get that fixed.  Bleh

Been trying for many times to get through to my vet because I'm out of eye drops and want to get them today.  It says " we are busy if you would like to hold hit 1" then rounds you back to the same message "if you would like to hold hit 1"

Bleh........

Here is the trick for not being tired after the time-change: don't get up until the sun is shining. I know, I know, it isn't possible for some of you, so it was mean to say that. ??

Supposed to be sunny today, but the sky North-West of here is a glowering, steel-blue spread of clouds. It is in the lower 50's, but there is no wind to make it feel colder.

I went out to the patio and scooped up most of the wet birdseed off the cement, using a dustpan; the cast-off of the birdseed was VERY thick and pretty much "un-sweepable". Once I got that cleaned up, I put out fresh seeds. Immediately after I shut the door, my 'pet' red-bellied male woodpecker landed and started chowing down. Next was a female cardinal , a mourning dove, and a small crew of sparrows. I love putting out fresh food for them because they are all so enthusiastic about it; it is one thing around here that makes me feel happy.

Welp, it is Monday and one of our SS checks is in the bank, so I will call the automatic (telephone) teller and get transactions, deposits, etc. and see if I can get close to a balance on each of the two checkbooks.

Ack, Tweety, I have had issues like that when trying to book trips, especially with camping sites. I looked up arepas, they look delicious and somewhat like the bread that is used for huarachas. 

Joe, these past two mornings have seemed sooooo dark. It really made it hard to get up and get moving. 

I stayed in a bed a little longer today, because it was raining and I wasn't anxious to go for my run. It stopped for a while and I did go out, but it was still only 40 degrees. And it started to hail as I got home. I was glad I got out yesterday and finished weeding and fertilizing the blueberries, and got a good start on pruning roses. dh said he was going to help with that but he hasn't started yet. He was puttering around with the travel trailer and watching basketball on tv.  I watched most of the Oscars last night, although I've only seen a few of the movies. I really want to see the one with Michele Yeoh. I've liked her ever since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I always enjoy the clothes and jewels. 

Today I am studying for gardening class. And it is really dry (entomology) and looking at the bugs makes me itch. 

I had to look up huarachas and it sounds good.  Many latin American cuisines use some sort of masa flour dish.  Different regions have variations for example apparently Columbian arepas are sweeter than Venezuelan.  El Salvador has a dish called "pupusa" that uses masa.   Arepas are made with pre-cooked masa flour but other cuisines use uncooked.  I've made my own corn tortillas many times with uncooked masa.  Now I have a big bag of cooked, so more arepas will be in my future.  There's a food truck I around here sometimes at different events that sells cheese filled arepas and I've always wanted to try them.

Yes, today was frustrating.  Even when I tried to book parking at the airport I had to start over because the first time didn't take for some reason.  I texted best friend who was asking me a question and got a message "unable to send text".  Ultimately rebooted my phone and it seems to be working now.

I did get my eye drops because they listened to a message on their answering machine and texted me that they were ready.  

I was so taken with Couching Tiger Hidden Dragon that I got the DVD (long before streaming) and it's one of the few movies I've seen more than once.  I even have the soundtrack on CD.

I left a message with my dentist's office to cancel my appointment as they no longer take my insurance.  They called back and said it was some paperwork glitch that they filed late and they are indeed still contracted with my dental insurance as they've finished up the contract.  They are not listed as provider on the website, but I'll take their word for it and I'm sure as my appointment comes close and they try to get authorization I will no for sure.  Good news because I've been going several years and paid for his kids to go to private school.

There are several Salvadoran food vendors here that sell pupusas. I find them a little too greasy for my taste. 

Regarding dentists, I think we must have bought the guy who did dh's implants a new boat or two. I swear, it seemed like there was a new imaging or six more steps to go after every visit. 

Interesting because some of the recipes I've looked at for pupusas don't call for much oil/butter.  But I've yet to make them.  

I've almost fainted when I got the bill for my implants after the deductible and insurance was applied.   It was a couple of years ago and the gums are still sore sometimes even now.  Same with the crowns.  I think dental insurance should at least pay more for crowns as often there isn't an alternative other than removing the tooth and having a blank spot.  

It's dark outside now but I got up at 5AM.  I really need to adjust myself because I'm getting up tomorrow at 5AM.  The last two mornings it was almost 8AM when I got up and nearly midnight going to bed.  Usually I get up earlier and go to bed earlier.  My sleep hygiene is terrible.
