moderators please clarify

Can anyone please advise on this?

I am an international nurse from the Philippines. I would like to know what are the breakdown of expenses I have to prepare in order for me to apply in Ontario Canada. Do I have to enroll in a course before I could take the exam? Is this the CRNE exam and not the CARNA? Is there a bridging course of some sort in canada just like the ones in Australia?

Thru research, I have come across with these expenses:

Assessment fee of CNO - $175

Canadian Exam Fee - $215

Is these all there is?

Thank you to all the moderators and fellow nurses in advance who takes time answering all the inquiries (which at times seems repetitive):lol2::lol2::lol2:. Thanks for the patience rendered.

Have a blessed new year to all!

First of all, once more with feeling (as you said, some of these questions are a little repetetive) The CRNE is the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination. It is the examination ALL candidates who wish to practice nursing as an RN in Canada must pass. CARNA is the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, the regulatory body that provides annual registration, maintains the register of all nurses licensed to work in Alberta and provides accountability for nursing practice and discipline to the citizens of Alberta. Before a person may be registered with CARNA they must take the CRNE. They are two completely different things.

There are bridging courses in Canada and if your education is not considered to be equivalent to that received by nurses educated in Canada you may be required to take one to be registered here.

No, there will be more. You have to have a criminal records check, you have to pay for all your transcripts and any other documentation the College in the province you're applying to wants, you have to be in Canada to write the CRNE (air fare, hotels, meals, etc) and many more little incidental fees. The cost of your lciense will be in the range of $400 once you've jumped through all the hoops. Then there are the federal fees for visas or work permits, and an assortment of other costs. You might find that you've spent several thousand dollars in fees before you have anything to show for it. I am a Canadian born and educated and when I moved from one province to another, I paid out nearly $1000 in fees.
