Missed by this much

So i did my daily email this morning to Excelsior asking about cancellations and of course, as usual, I get an email back by 10am EST stating there are no cancellations or openings at this time.

So I look at my emails at 2:50pm today and low and behold I have an email from Excelsior stated today at 2:20 pm. I open Excelsior's site and go on the message site and I have an email that states there is an opening for the CPNE at Southern Regional Medical Center. So I quickly dial Excelsior's phone number and hit 1-3-1-2. I get Maryann on the phone, I excitedly ask if the CPNE spot at Southern Regional is still available. I start going through the logistics of getting off work, booking a flight, arranging a hotel, thinking of renting a car. My heart is beating a mile a minute anticipating my CPNE could be less than two weeks away.

I can now hear my pulse in my ear. A bead of sweat is coming down my forehead in anticipation.

Maryann gets back and the phone and.......................

"I'm sorry that spot has been filled". In an instant my bubble has burst. My anticipation has turned to despair. "it's not fair" i think to myself. But alas, it is. The cutthroat world that is the CPNE.

So back into the pool of CPNE hopeful's, awaiting my turn to face the beast.

Hopefully I will get another email with another cancellation offering. Until then, eye on the prize. Study, practice, and more practice!

Oh wow!!!!! Sorry to hear that! SRMC is where I did my CPNE. They didn't have a PEDs unit; so we received an adult in lieu of a pediatric PCS. I loved that!!!

Ouch! Back to it. You will get the golden ticket next time.
