I am an Lpn and finishing up my core classes this sem. I am hoping to grad. next may with my RN. I am taking APII, Micro, and challanging ob/peds this sem. I already challanged my first year of nursing, pharm., and assessment I am taking in April. I am having a terrible time in Micro, I don't have the time to dedicate for this class. I need to pass it now, because all the summer classes are full. We are using the 7th ed lab exercises by John P. Harley. Can someone/anyone help me with these?? they are so time consuming. My micro class does about 4-6 labs/wk!!! I can't take it anymore. :angryfire:cry:

Im in BSN program and am halfway through Micro right now......it's tough but so far I've done well. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me and I'll try my best to help out!
the lab reports in our lab exercises book are terrible. Other class mates are having a hard time finding the answers. I have tried looking the questions online, with NO success, our labook sucks! the exercises are explained good, but when it comes to getting the answers to the review questions--forget it they can't be found.
one of our labs today was the lipid hydrolysis test-- Q) How is the ability of certain bacteria to attack phospholipids related to pathogenicity??? I can't find this answer anywhere. What book do you use. we use Microbiology 7th edition by John P. Harley. Did you do an unknown??, so far we did just an miniunknown, that was easy, I do pretty good on the tests and quizes. The lab reports in lab is whats killing me:banghead:

I had to take Micro twice. I was a transfer student and collage 2 didnt accept collage 1's micro. I hated it both times. My advice, stay after if you can, buddy up with someone that is doing well, I know both my Micro teachers were geeks at heart and loved helping in the lab. Let them know you just are not getting it, I believe 95% of teachers want you to pass their class and will take the extra steps to get you there.
You have to have it, I dont know why, as I feel it is really doing nothing for me a as a nurse, but it is what it is...
Best of luck...

Think about where phospholipids are in cells and what not having them there would result in.

I highly recommend:
Clinical Microbiology made ridiculously simple, Mark Gladwin & Bill Trattler, MedMaster Inc. Miami.
It saved my butt when I was going through my tropical medicine classes.

there is a list of microbiology weblinks for the student nurses on post #48 of this thread in the nursing student assistance forum of allnurses that you might want to check out to look for help with answering your microbiology questions.
also, you will probably get a better response to your school related question(s) if you post them in the student forums.
