Hi all,
I am thinking of joining the military as nurse and was wondering if anyone has every been given a waiver for hearing? I was born with nerve damage in my ears and have slight hearing loss. Lived with it for entire life and hasn't stopped me from anything yet. I know i prob won't pass the hearing test given at MEPS, i was always failing the ones given in grade school. By the way hearing isn't a prob for me, I have my BSN and have currently worked for over year w/o any issues. When i indicate this to the HCR would they even send me to MEPS??
ANy info on the wavier process/MEPS would be great
thanks

Dear Noodle:
YES. When I attended MEPS I had to get several waivers: age, ortho, and hearing. Got all three.
I also failed the hearing/audio exam but like you this hearing loss was a non-issue in my life as far as I was concerned. Graduated from nursing school, later on received my BSN, certified in EMT-B, certified to teach CPR...
I will send you a PM...
