MedSurg Prep

Hi! I am new to allnurses and I just completed my first semester of the BSN program. I start Med-Surg I in the fall; I was wondering what to expect and if any of you could suggest anything I could do to prepare for this class. All I have heard is how hard it is so I would like to do some reading over my break and be a little ahead of the curve. Any help would be appreciated!

Review any drugs that will be used / discussed focusing on method of action, contraindications (outside the normal hypersensitivity), any special implementation requirements (i.e. don't sit or lay down for 30 minutes), any specific drug/food interactions (typically herbal items like grapefruit juice), and common side effects (not all; just those that commonly occur) as well as patient should report if _____.
