Medications

What tools have you found useful for studying/learning medications in preparation for NCLEX?

I have a list of common meds, but was wondering if any of you have thought about/tried those boxes of med flashcards you can buy at the bookstore? If they're helpful at all?

don't buy them. the best you can do is just know the basics about the common meds and then some of the ones on TV. i had several meds seen on tv, but cant remember the names now for the life of me. good luck!

Thanks :) Is there a reason you suggest not to buy them? Just curious.

large, heavy with lots of info. When i purchased mine, there was not any bolded areas that indicated really important info that was needed to know. If you are just studying and have no time component then they are ok, but everyone in my class who bought them only used them for about 2 weeks and then put them off to the side

I definitely have a time component, so that helps to know. Thanks for the info!

My experience with NCLEX-RN was that the med questions didn't contain the first clue about what classification they were, what they for used for, side-effects, etc.

Truthfully, I only had two med questions and have no idea whether or not I answered correctly.

There's no way to study ALL the meds out there. I'd take my chances that any questions would be about a med I knew something about and concentrate on studying isolation, delegation and prioritizing care.
