A patient is ordered Heparin. The concentration of the infusion is 12500 units Heparin in 250 ml of 5% of Dextrose.
1) How many units per ml are there in solution?
The Heparin is to be infused at 900 u//s per hour.
2)How many mls/hr should be given?
Can you show how it is calculated? Thanks

here's a hint for #1: there are 12500 units of heparin in 250 ml of solution

I will be having a job interview and been practicing some drug calculation I came across this problem and I just couldn't get the answer The displacement value for co-amoxiclav is 0.9ml per 1.2g vial. What volume of water for injection would you add to the vial to give a concentration of 60 mg in 1ml? My answer is 0.1 ml.A bag of lignocaine is prescribed at a rate of 3mg per minute for a 65kg lady. At what rate should the infusion run in ml/hr?
If the dispalcement value is 0.9 per 1.2g. There is 1.2g per 1ml, right? So if you have 1.2g in 1 ml how many cc would you have to add to have a final concentration of 60 mgs per 1ml. Watch your decimal points.
The second answer needs more information.
How many mg of lidocaine is in what sized IV bag?
What is the concentration of the drug in the bag?
What is the drug concentration per cc in the bag?
If the dose is just 3mg/min do you really need the weight?
