Hello Everyone :)
I am preparing for my NCLEX and have come across a question that I do not understand how I am getting the wrong answer:
The book I am using says the answer to this question is 720
Here is the question:
A client has the following food for lunch: 8oz of Ice Chips, 1 cup of Tea, 1 cup of Coffee, and 240 mL of Milk. The client eats the ice chips, and drinks all of the tea, coffee, and HALF of the Milk. The total intake for lunch is _________
I keep getting 840, HELP :)
Thanks!

30 ml = 1 oz
so 8 oz ice chips = 240 (mL 8x30=240)
1cup of coffee is 240 mL(1cup is 8oz)
1cup tea = 240mL
plus 1/2 the 240 of milk 120
gives you 840 I agree with you!
hope this helps

The amount of ice chips needs to be divided in half because it decreases in volume once it melts at room temp. So the answer would be : 720 mL, I think?!:)

Ding-ding-ding-ding! We have a winnah!
(Experiment: Take one cup of ice chips, let stand at room temp until melted. You will not have 8oz of water ...)
Ah ha!
