Hey kro90,
I am also applying for the RN program at Dade for fall 2012. Which track are you trying to get into, Accelerated/Full-time/Part-time??? Also, if you don't mind, what is your science GPA?
As for the TEAS, I would get the study guide made by ATI since they're the company who makes the TEAS exam. You can get it on the ATI website but can get it cheaper on Amazon or something like that. There's a good sticky thread in the Students tab for the TEAS exam that a student posted that he gives a good review of what to study. The science is probably the most difficult on the account that it is all over the place. But to start, make sure you absolutely know: Mitosis/Meiosis, DNA/RNA and transcription/translation, ionic/covalent bonds and the periodic table, atomic mass/#, protons/neutrons, electrons, definitely photosynthesis and cellular respiration, know all the organ systems and their basic functions. That's just a start.
I took it a couple of weeks ago and got an 85.3%

Hiii I am applying for the fall 2012 generic program as well. I take my teas the 25 of April. I am so scared. My science GPA is only a 3.34, I need to do beyond amazing on my teas v. I have signed up for math prep classes on saturday mornings at kendall campus
Hi Stephanie, I took the teas today and I got a low score , I did pretty good in English and language and math, but in science I did HORRIBLE and in the reading part I ran out of time so it lowered my scored a lot... I'll be taking the test again the 25th of April and I reaaally hope I can get a higher score this time because my GPA is a 3.2.
I have the study manual and it really helps with math, reading and English usage.

I will be applying for the accelerated and generic option. I am a little anxious, my science GPA is not that good. I graduated from University of California and most of our science professors are very tough. My chances of getting admitted maybe not to high .
Goodluck to everyone!!!
Hey mjl88,
Thanks for the study tips!!! I took the test today and I think the science was very hard. I have the study guide and it helped me a lot with math, reading and English, but the science part of the book was nothing like the one on the actual test.
I'll be taking the test again next month to see if I can get a higher score, I really need it since my GPA is a 3.2 but now that I know what to focus on in the science hopefully I'll get a better score.
I'll be applying for the Generic/Full and Part-time. How about you??? oh and congratulations on your Teas test.

Hi khris0214!! Have you taken the teas test yet? I do not know you GPA, but if you score high on the test you will have a better chance of getting in to the program.
Good luck and be positive
not yet. I am planning to take it next month. I heard the 5 teas practice test is very helpful for the science TEAS?
My science gpa is around 2.9 (got a c in anatomy) and overall college gpa is 3.4.

I'll probably apply for all 3 tracks for the heck of it but can really only do part-time since I still need to work. Don't worry about the TEAS, it seems everybody has a difficult time on the science. It's hard cause it seems all over the place. My advice would be to perfect the Reading, Math, and English portions that way those high scores can offset a potential low score science. Using the ATI study book for those 3 sections will do the trick in my opinion. As for science, I would read through some of the past threads under the TEAS tab under Students and get an idea of what people have said about it.

Yes, I will definitely be studying the Reading, math and English portions and hopefully I score higher. When are you going to apply? I have to wait until I retake the teas at the end of this month before submitting my application
Good luck

I'll probably be applying next week to hopefully begin this fall. I suggest that you get everything ready now (application filled out, money for the fee, and anything else) so you don't you're not scrambling come May 1st. Once you finish taking the TEAS later this month, you can go right over to the advising center and turn it in along with the application.
And Good luck!!
