MCC Registration

Was I the only one who didn't realize that reigistration started at midnight instead of 6am like it used to? I dawned on me when I logged onto WebAdvisor at 5:30am and saw that the section I wanted for 1530 was already full! So much for all my careful planning...next time I'll pay more attention to the time at which the system actually comes online!:trout: Oh well, now instead of going Mondays and Tuesdays I'll be going Mondays and Fridays. I just don't like how the Friday (Lab) class is the first one we attend, and the theory classes don't start until the following Monday...seems like putting the cart before the horse.

Yeah, they open nursing registration before the rest of the classes because we overload the system and everything crashes! Don't worry about starting your lab before the lecture. They don't cover the same material because lab is just basic skills. Good luck!!

I was online at midnight to register for my nursing classes and it took forever!!! Thankfully I got my first choice for both clinicals despite the time it took to register. Anyway we will be in the same lab class NB mom, so I look forward to meeting you.

Do you guys start in august or october? I start in august and will be attending the lab on friday....i can't wait to get started....seems like it has taken forever to get to this point :)

I start in August...I feel like I'm in a perpetual state of "hurry up and wait"!;) Part of me feels like there's SO many things to accomplish before the semester begins (physical, titers, drug screen, hep B, uniforms, books, malpractice ins) but at the same time I feel like I've been waiting forever to get started!

Well, there's only 10 people per lab class, and three of us are here on the board...so at least we'll know about a third of our group! :lol2:

watch out for the scrubs when you order...they run small....i just got mine....i purposly went a size higher then my measurements and they are still snug.....i weigh all of 120 pounds....so that will give you some idea of what im saying....the material feels like a army tent....it is thick and dosent move with your body....it just hangs there.....my husband has a closet full of scrubs and these are not like any scrubs ive seen before....one other thing....have you guys checked out the macombnursing.org website....im going to start chatting there because its easier to chat with only macomb students...i look forward to going through this experience with you guys....by the way my real name is erika reich....cant wait!!!:monkeydance:

Erika, this is too weird...we share the same last name!:lol2: My first name is Tricia (actually Patricia), but it's my married name. My father-in-law is one of seven children, although a few have passed away. I haven't met anyone else with the same last name in the past 11+ years I've been married (soon to be divorced!). Thanks for the advice about the scrubs, I still have to order mine...and I'm far from 120lbs!;)

that is funny tricia....its my married name also....i also have not met any one with that name....i looked at your profile...i also have two kids....im 29....pretty similar lives :) im going to keep my husband for a little while longer though...at least till i graduate hehehe....just kidding...i see you also bought that nursing constellation for the PDA....i like it....i want to get a medical dictionary though....did you get a scope yet?

My grandmother was very generous and got me a Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope...it's great! I had done a lot of research into which ones were the best, and this one seems to be high on the list. We ordered it through allheart.com and had my name laser printed on the tubing...it was a steal at about $150, which included the printing and S/H.

my husband is a nurse and is also cheap :) lol....so he told me just to get the littman lightweight $30 :) my friend got the cardio 3 also and loves it....seeing what my husband does as a nurse is the first thing that got me interested in this field....but also like you i spent a month in the nicu because my daughter was born a month and a half early and i was so intrigued by how everything worked there.....it seemed like a very rewarding job....its amazing how the body works and how far medicine has come in being able to make a difference

You're husband will make the ideal study-buddy!;)

Through whom are you ladies and gents getting your malpractice insurance? I haven't needed it before :) not sure where to look.

I haven't signed up yet, but I think I am going to join the National Student Nurses Association (www.nsna.org), and through them we can get malpractice ins for $29/yr provided by Nurses Service Organization (www.nso.com). It's $70 for a 2-yr membership to NSNA, and then the additional $29/yr for the malpractice ins (the coverage is supposed to be up to $6 million aggregate/$1 million each).

Joining the NSNA seems to have other perks too: discounts through Barnes & Noble, nursing magazine subscription discounts, ect. I'm hopefully going to have the money together to join by next month, since I start the program in August and it's a two year membership.

If anyone has any other sources of malpractice insurance, please share, I like to evaluate all my options before making a commitment!;)
