I am trying to apply to nursing programs and I am confused as to why at some colleges statistics counts as higher math then college algebra and then at other colleges college algebra is higher math then statistics?
For example: At my current college statistics is a higher math and at most other colleges I've looked into, but at a few, they are saying they would not count my stats class

Each school sets its own requirements, and sometimes there's no rhyme or reason behind the why.
For example, my ADN program required everyone to take a very basic math class (along the lines of 1+1=2, I think. I tested out of it and so didn't have to take it).
The school would not allow students to substitute any higher math class for it, even though those higher math classes covered the basics and then some. And there would be at least one student every year arguing about why they couldn't accept this or that class in lieu of basic math. To the ADN program, this basic math class was the only thing that counted, even if you were a math major.
Ironically, it was also hard to test out of this basic math class. You needed a perfect score on the test to do it.
Meanwhile, the nursing program down the road would have been perfectly happy with any college math class above algebra.

I have thought the same thing! When I was going for my pre-reqs I had to take 2 math classes below statistics prior to entering. Now at that same school has no pre-reqs required to enter into statistics! It seems like different schools have different requirements, which can be frustrating.
