Can someonne be kind to help me with the below question. i got stucked on it preparing for my med admin. exam.
All contributions welcomed.
Prescription is to give 250 mg Ancef IM every 8 hours. The medication is available as a powder in a 1 gram vial. The reconstitution directions state to add 2.5 cc of water to the vial. Shake well till dissolved. The solution concentration will equal 330 mg/ml. Fluid volume will equal 3.0 ml. How much solution do you give each time?

You can use the formula Dose desired divided by dose on hand multiplied by the amount the dose on hand is in.
Thanks so much for the help. I really appreciate the prompt responses.
Thanks again

Just remeber not to read too much into the problems. I always circle only the information that I need like Rx dose ( want ), whats available (have) and the mL's I have. hope this helps.
