Dec 7, 201510 yr Hi there!I have a math question I am struggling with, was hoping someone could help! Dopamine 400mg in 250ml of D5W to infuse at 5mcg/kg/min. The patients weight is 200 lbs. How many ml/hr would be on an infusion pump? This is what I did to solve it: 200lbs divided by 2.2lbs/kg = 90.9kg > 91kg 5mcg/kg/min x 91kg = 455mcg/min455mcg/min x 60min/1hr= 27,300mcg/hr 27,300mcg x 1mg/1000mcg = 27.3 mg/hr 27.3 mg x 250ml/400mg = 17ml/hr So my answer is I would infuse at 17ml/hr Anyone get the same? Dec 7, 201510 yr Yes, and thank you for working the problem rather than posting the question and hoping for the answer. The formula I use for this type problem (weight based, per minute) is: (dose × weight × 60) ÷ conc/mL.
Hi there!
I have a math question I am struggling with, was hoping someone could help!
Dopamine 400mg in 250ml of D5W to infuse at 5mcg/kg/min. The patients weight is 200 lbs. How many ml/hr would be on an infusion pump?
This is what I did to solve it:
200lbs divided by 2.2lbs/kg = 90.9kg > 91kg
5mcg/kg/min x 91kg = 455mcg/min
455mcg/min x 60min/1hr= 27,300mcg/hr
27,300mcg x 1mg/1000mcg = 27.3 mg/hr
27.3 mg x 250ml/400mg = 17ml/hr
So my answer is I would infuse at 17ml/hr
Anyone get the same? Thanks in advance!
