1. Why are you majoring in Nursing Education if nothing about that field interests you? That's what I would ask if I were your advisor. I would suggest that you change you major to whatever DOES interest you. Your problem may be a sign that you have chosen the wrong path and should consider switching to a path that will bring you greater long term fulfillment. Perhaps it would be helpful to think about why you chose to major in Nursing Education to begin with.
2. Does the topic that DOES interest you have an educational aspect (or related educational question) that could be studied for your thesis?
could you find a way to make your topic r/t education of students or staff? for example, you love cardiac care so how to you implement a new STEMI program with staff through education? OK for example, my Masters was in Peds but my thesis focus was train the trainer in lead prevention (child focus) through nutrition in the WIC program. A big stretch but it worked. I would have to agree with poster LLG, are you sure your a choosing the right focus? SHould you do a dual masters? Go with your passion, not necessarily what is 'safe'. Your passion is what will carry your through the program.

Hi Folks
I've recently started my MSN (Specialty in Nursing Education). I'm supposed to present my Nursing Thesis topic by Jan 31st. I've got a few ideas for topics related to Nursing Education - which I will discuss with my advisor next week - but nothing I am super excited about/interested in. So, my question to you all is... Can my thesis be completely unrelated to my specialty? or does the defeat the whole purpose?
The reason I ask, is because I am very interested in researching a certain topic that isn't related to Nursing Education.
I know it's a long shot and that it's pretty obvious that I should propose a topic that is related to Nursing Education...but I just can't stop thinking about my other idea. Sigh...
I just want to hear your opinions on my situation prior to meeting with my advisor. Have any of you done your thesis on something unrelated to your specialty?
Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it...
Love and Peace
