Massasoit Students...?s!

Published

Hey there!

I'm currently enrolled at CCRI completing the prerequisites for the Nursing Program. They are essentially the same as the prereqs for Massasoit. It seems like it would be much easier to gain acceptance to MCC than CCRI-where I may have to wait for a year after completing my prereqs before I can even apply (due to the once a year application process and since you must have completed the prereqs just to apply)!

For those of you who attend MCC, were you able to transfer any courses from other colleges? I will have Anatomy, Physiology (all taken 2008-9), General Psych, Developmental Psych, English Comp, and Int to Sociology. I'd hate to have to take everything over again.

Also, I see the application deadline is February 1st. How soon after applying are you notified of acceptance/rejection? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I just applied to the MCC program. I went to their nursing information seminars and they said that you should have completed 3 sciences before applying since there are several hundred students applying for 56 daytime spots. The science pre-corerequisites are biology, A&P I, A&P II and Microbiology. I have completed all with an 'A' and am currently taking Microbiology. They took my transfer credits from another school but I had not taken any sciences prior to attending MCC. I wish you the best of luck...maybe we'll see each other in the Fall. http://images.allnurses.com/smilies/added/pinkheartbeat.gif

HI DKNUB

Have you taken that NEAT test yet ? How was it?

Im taking mine this Friday just a little nervous. Not sure how to prepare for this test.

Do you have any ideas?

I haven't taken the test as of yet. I have an appointment on the 31st of this month. I don't know that you can really prepare for it but if you are taking it at MCC it is really only reading comprehension. If you go onto their website to the testing area you can see some examples. The test seems quite easy. The point of the test is to make sure you will be able to read and understand the nursing texts which are written at a grade 14 level. So if you've gotten this far....I am sure you are more than prepared and will do just fine. I wish you the best of luck. Keep me posted!!

Thank you. I loved Anatomy and Physiology so the work didn't really seem like much. I had some great classmates and lab partners which made it more enjoyable. Psychology is a great course also. I am taking Microbiology, Human growth and development and Nutrition this semester so all I have left are the core nursing classes. If time permits, I am hoping to get a couple of classes out of the way that will be required for the RN-BSN bridge program over the summer.

Believe it or not but it took me a 1 1/2 yr to complete these classes. I work 40 hrs a week and Im marriede but ,no kids yet, thank goodness so I have more time to study.

Im nervous and excited about this year.

Hey Purpose! I'm taking the NEAT on Friday as well. I'm not sure what to expect! I've taken some similar standardized tests, but I believe this one is newer, so I haven't been able to find a lot of info online. GL!

Purpose,

It's definitely a huge commitment on your part and that of family if they are supportive. You should be proud of yourself. I don't work but I am home with 2 kids. I think that anything you want simply requires discipline and a shift in priorities. I get so excited for everybody when they do well because this is definitely a difficult major. Good Luck tomorrow!!!

Hey ladies...good luck to all of you on your NEAT tests and applications!
