Mass Bay Waitlist Fall 2011

Hello,

I am on the waitlist for the fall 2011 semester for the day RN program at Mass Bay. It is a bit of a letdown being since I finished all of my pre and co-requisites there and have a 3.94 GPA. I am wondering if anyone out there had been accepted off the waitlist previously. Just wondering what my odds are of being accepted this year. Anyone else in the same boat?

Hi-

Have you heard anything from Mass Bay yet? I am just curious to know. Hope you have been accepted. I cannot understand why if you took all of your courses there and have a GPA of 3.94 that you wouldn't have been accepted. I'm a little discouraged after hearing this. Can you tell me what your application process was? Thank you. Gerri

I have to agree with Geri on this one. I had applied for the day RN program and I didn't get in with my 3.343 gpa (even though I got Dean's list in the Spring semester). When I finally spoke to the woman in charge, she told me that the minimum gpa accepted was 3.584, however I read on another thread just today that someone got in with a 3.4 gpa... You can imagine how upset I was to read this and I do hope that they admit you because there is no excuse for them to not accept you. I hope you get some answers soon, so please keep us updated

Hi Lizbee-

Did you take all of your courses through MBCC or were you a transfer student? Did you have all of the pre and co reqs completed? It's hard to figure how the admissions committee is looking at applicants. Best of Luck to you and thanks for the info. Gerri

Hi Gerri!!

Thank you for the words of encouragement, I really do appreciate it :)... I actually graduated with a Bachelors degree a little over a year ago and was looking to get my nursing degree through a community college (:twocents: saving)... The main pre- and co-reqs I did at MassBay (however I did also have a lot of them completed at my college). I got A's and B's and still didn't get in, however, my friend had about the same grades as I have and she got in. I do agree with you it is very difficult to figure out how the committee picks their students. The other reason I had for picking MassBay was because they didn't do any nursing entrance exams, while other schools do. Since they have completely edited their program, they now make it mandatory for their students to take one :(...

One piece of advice I can offer you is to make sure that all of your sciences (College Chem, A&P 1 and 2, and Microbiology) are completed before you submit your application. One girl who was waitlisted but later got in told me that she didn't even have micro completed; others stories told to me by other students was to make sure that all necessary classes are completed before applying. How many more courses are you missing in order to be done?

SN: I know of some other schools that have start dates in both the fall and the spring, so if you want more options or to have the chance to start sooner, let me know and I can tell you :)... I hope this helps you out somewhat; best of luck to you with classes and MassBay!! If there is any other way I can help you, please don't hesitate to ask :)
