Malcolm X Nursing Program - Chicago, Spring 2020

Anyone Applying for this Spring Term? I'm so lost on how the Nursing Department is processing all submissions -- and the office has not been helpful in giving clear instructions. Anyone else who has completed this process have any tips? My biggest fear is having all requirements turned in and they are not processed.

@steve,

The medical documents took about 4 business days in total. A couple of them were ready the next day. The background check took about 2 weeks to be ready for me.

How long ago has it been since you re-uploaded? I would give them a call tomorrow to see what’s up

@alex ap I re-uploaded the documents today. I’m hoping that everything goes through. My background check has already been completed, but MX still hasn’t checked it off on my application. This entire process is a bit nerve-racking honestly. Especially considering the school doesn’t communicate effectively.

Did you guys see that email saying that they’re extending the deadline for submitting some of the things?

Yea, I believe it said until December 6th.

I emailed ******* ****** about it and she didn't know who sent it. She says she was forwarding it to the associate dean. I have no idea whats going on.

It’s kinda strange, but they did CC’d some of the nursing admin people in that email.

It’s a pretty drastic extension considering the semester starts in like the second week of January. I wonder when they’ll start approving. Hopefully it’s not a rushed thing creating even more miscommunication with us.

I received that email too. Its probably best to just ignore it and stick to the 11/15 deadline. That seems really odd, especially since ******* said she doesn't know who sent it.

Hello everyone,

I received that email as well. I was wondering if anyone has any updates regarding the email, I also saw that on the website the deadline is still 11/15. I emailed ****** ****** about it and how it will affect the decisions but she hasn't gotten back to me.

So far no updates about the email.

Yeah on the student portal, the deadlines still show 11/15.

For those of you who submitted new docs recently, has the status changed to "complete" for any of your submissions?

My medical stuff and H.S transcripts still show as incomplete. I submitted that stuff about 3 weeks ago.

Ok so I see I’m not the only one dealing with how unorganized this admissions process is. I’ve been calling and sending emails continuously. They haven’t updated my background check and it’s been completed for nearly a month now. My medical documentation, background check, and cumulative gpa is still showing incomplete. I spoke with someone from the nursing department on Wednesday who informed me to give a call if my documents were not all updated by Friday. I’m really hoping that this admissions process is not a reflection of how the entire program will be. Its extremely unprofessional.

Hey guys! They've updated mine but I still have cumulative gpa and medical documentation showing as incomplete...I read old threads for Malcolm X Nursing and they do sound quite disorganized. I think students in the past found out mid December if they were accepted or not and some even extended the deadline for people to submit med docs...

I called MXC a while back, they said they'd inform people of acceptance starting Nov 18th. But to my knowledge, they already accepted a few students! According to old threads I read, some people were accepted as late as early-mid December.

GUYS!!! Make sure you check your selective application a lot!! They will send you an email a decision has been made & to check your application , but sometimes they dont. So check ur application every day just in case . You will have to go into your portal to physically click accept or decline the offer of acceptance!!! And theres a deadline shown to accept it in the selective application, so click accept as soon as you see it. Good luck to everyone ?
