Making a switch to the OR

Hey everyone,

So, I have become more and more interested in OR nursing as time goes by. I thought I would apply to CRNA school after a couple of years--now I am not sure. Anyways, I have an interview with a university medical center coming up this Monday. I was wondering if someone can offer some questions I should ask during my interview--I already have some prepared--but I wanna make sure I have a thorough list. Second, I currently work in a NICU--so I know the change is going to be a shock, are there any other OR nurses that have come from the ICU setting to a OR setting--specifically from a NICU. I would appreciate any information you have.

Cheers,

James

It is actually extremely helpful to have NICU experience. Those little ones still require surgery, and having a nurse in the room with NICU experience is always beneficial.

Worked NICU before I went to the OR and it was more than helpful many times. NICU nurses do not always accompany the infant in the room. It ia also very helpful with the peds patients as well.

Best of luck to you.

There are already a couple of threads on this forum talking about questions to ask, etc. Just look for them. ( Currently on vacation and just dropping by.)
