Hello
Are there any of you out there that are NPs that are currently not using their NP license for what may be a slew of personal reasons? I was wondering, how do you maintain your license if you need to take a hiatus of a year or two before using your license that you have already obtained? Do you just do CME's? What else is required, so you don't have to go back to school and re-do the degree? If there are links to find this information online, please guide me. I would appreciate the assistance.
Thanks!

It depends on who you are certified with. You should be able to go to their website and easily see how many CEUs as well as practice hours are required.

And...it makes a difference as to re-hireabillty if you are a new grad not wanting to work as an NP for a couple of years versus someone that is experienced who wants to take time off as they would probably have the practice hours completed already.
