LVN vs. Rn

do what you are happy doing and what you have the abilities for.

If you want to, at the end of the day, be an RN go for that. This is a longer route and more costly but if it is what you want then it is definitely worth it. On the flip side if you are going to be pressed for time or cash then by all means go LVN. I don't mean if you can't do one do the other but if you are equally happy doing the LVN go for it. You will still be a nurse.

As far as the "jobs" go... if you find that there are jobs in your area then why listen to the hype? So what if Joe, Jim, and Jack say there are no LVN jobs, If you SEE the job openings then obviously there are jobs.

Long story short... do what YOU reeeeeaaaaly want. Don't feel bound by what others tell you should be done.

I know i will be happy doing both, Im actually planing on eventually becoming a RN but wanted the hours of a LVN while my daughter is young. and also would any body know if a Associate RN is any less than a BSN.

If you are choosing LVN to have more time with your daughter go for it! I'm all for time with the minis.

As for the ADN vs. BSN... It's not less in terms of nurse... it's less in the way of education. So as far as that goes it's a matter of preference. Do you want to spend a bit more time in school and not have to go back for more so soon (or at all in some cases) or would you rather just get it done be an RN officially and worry about the rest later?

Again it's all about what suits your personal needs... if I were you, going for lvn, I'd just wait a minute working as an LVN doing classes here and there to earn my BSN.

I've seen LVN (LPN here) jobs, but they are only in LTC's. I have a friend that was going to be an RN, then she became an LPN and loves it. She loves working with the elderly.

Do what you want. Don't listen to what other people say to discourage you. It's your life, not theirs.
