I am in my 50s and I am thinking about returning to school to study nursing. Which would provide for the best job opportunities in California, LVN or RN degree?

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

There are fewer and fewer LVN positions available. What kind of job do you want to get? You may be able to find work in a SNF as an LVN, but there's very little chance you'd get something in acute care/hospital.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.
Which would provide for the best job opportunities in California, LVN or RN degree?
If you wish to remain in CA, neither educational path results in guaranteed employment these days. The unemployment rate for new grad RNs is in excess of 40 percent. The LVN pathway is fraught with its own problems, too.
