Please someone help!! I am totally freaking out. I am applying for entry into nursing school here in Texas. Im in the last phases. Yesterday we were told by the nursing instructor that we have to pass both a state background check, and a fingerprinted FBI background check in order to be accepted into the program. Upon discussing, the instructor mention TBON and if we have anything criminal or what have you -- that we should submit a DECLARATORY ORDER in advance. Heres my situation-- I have a few outstanding unpaid parking tickets from years ago-- that have since gone into collections. Ive already called the attorneys office handling the collection of debt to request a payment plan. I have a year to pay down the debt. Im wondering if this is something that would prevent me entry into the program if I don't disclose this up front? Is this even necessary to disclose this up front and likely take several months to rectify-- as I no longer live in the state of Illinois? Or is TBON moreso looking for other things like theft or abuse etc...? Other than the tickets in collections-- I have nothing else going on. And my license is not suspended or anything like that. Nor do I have warrants. Please help. I am totally freaking out.

Hmm not sure. I was arrested years before I applied to take the NCLEX. It was driving on a suspended license which was a mistake on the court's part. My license should never have been suspended. I had to go to court, plead not guilty with my documentation showing my license shouldn't have been suspended. My case was thrown out because it really was a legitimate error on their part. But when applying for the NCLEX, they saw the arrest and I had to get the court documents that showed the case was thrown out, and I had to get the police report and write a letter stating what happened. It was no issue for me. It just delayed me from taking the NCLEX about a week.
