LTC is so wrong for me...should I go? Help!

I've been in home health until the econ tanked, then I was laid off. Since then it's been a struggle to find satisfactory work that wont need up killing me. I'm pushing 60 yrs old, the days of running for hours are beyond me now. I've done LTC before, never lasted more than a few months...it just isnt me. I more than dislike passing pills to 15, 25, 30+ patients at a time, chasing those patients down who then complain they didnt get it on time. Forget the other headaches on top of that.

Anyhow..the point being, when I recently hired into this super nice place I very specifically explained I was seeking a Healing Touch Nurse position as I have earned my credentials. The DON response was that is why she's hired me. Wonderful. :)

Unfortunately, things arent progressing rapidly enough ,most recent comment is another 3-4 months. In the interim I've been working the floor which is starting to raise my BP, the migraines are returning...just ugh! It's only every other weekend, how ever, its becoming a mental and physical stress.

I've spend 10 yrs and a few thousand dollars to earn my HTI credentials, this is what I want to do. I dont want to work the floor,

Would the wise course to speak to the DON, and request she takes me off the schedule? and when the facility is ready for HT, start back then?

I dont want to technically quit... however LTC is just not for me.

Sorry this is so long winded... just ended to vent.

Sounds like you got the old bait and switch. If you are not performing the job duties you were hired for... stop working the weekends for them.
