LTC experience for NP school?

Hi there,

So I'm thinking about transitioning to LTC as an RN and I was wondering how that would affect my admission chances to an NP program (either FNP, AGNP, or PMHNP). Would the admissions people at a grad program look down on LTC experience?

Thanks,

Moved to student NP forum. Much will depend on what type of NP specialty you will be pursuing. For instance, if acute care, then acute care experience would be considered for admission, if FNP then LTC might work. If you are changing jobs so that you would have more time for school, I would emphasize that too.

Best wishes.
