LPN seeking relocation to MD

I live in the Richmond , VA area and there are a lot of jobs for "tweenies" (student nurses). I am a carepartner and I make decent money and as a carepartner they let you draw labs, perform wound care, phelbotomy, trache care, catheterizations, as well as bed side patient care. As a care associate, you only have the scope of a CNA. I am currently in LPN school and due to finish in 05/04 and will start a RN program in the fall. As long as you have had your med surg class/clinicals then you can work as a carepartner and practice your skills. It is also a great way to get your foot in the door as a LPN - RN. There is also a BSN accelerated program at VCU and accelerated BSN for 2nd degrees.

Iam originally from Boston myself. Im now living in Philadelphia and have been here for 5 years. I am now looking into moving to Maryland because of my husbands new Job. But I have noticed that I dont get a lot of feed back from the maryland people about Relocating and jobs in Maryland. I dont know why but they just dont seem to have anything positive to say. Do you get the same feeling? I dont get any responds from my posts. So I dont know.. Good luck to you...

I am having trouble finding an agency to work for in Western Maryland. Have any suggestions?

I live in MD and graduated in April-as a new grad jobs are hard to come by-some of my classmates still don't have jobs coz employers want 1- 3 years experience

There are plenty of jobs in Baltimore/Columbia area and they pay better too otherwise just keep filling applications and might be lucky- i was lucky

There also lots of jobs in the DC /VA area.

The posts w/o replies can all be answered on that website. We have jobs, it's expensive, there are lots of options in between so you can't just give a general answer to cover the entire Baltimore Metro region.

I am a new grad LPN trying to relocate to Western MD. I can't tell you how frustrating it has been trying to find a job. In MA where I am presently located, one can easily walk in or send in a resume and land a job. Sad to say that its seems like nursing homes pay a lot of money to agencies to find nurses including relocating foreign nurses, than taking the time to interview people like me. Off course, the agencies need nurses with experience, so then where does that leave me as a new grad. I am waiting on acceptance from George Mason to complete my BSN, in 3 semesters starting Spring '04( 2nd BS degree student). It seems like I will have to seek reciprocity in VA or do another type of job until I graduate as an RN. Everyone says there is a great need for nurses but I wonder......Anyone with feedback?

Where in Western MD? Frederick, Hagerstown, or out near Cumberland. I suppose the job market is a little slower out there, than over in the metro area. But I thought Frederick and Hagerstown would still have opportunities. I can't see why you aren't getting anything.

I'm in MD, but I can't comment on areas outside the Baltimore region. Yes, I think it may be harder to find jobs in Western Maryland b/c there aren't as many hospitals. Here in Baltimore we have oh, 11 hospitals that I can think of off the top of my head that are all within 15-20 minutes driving distance from me. And that's just in Baltimore. I had several job offers right out of school.

Good luck in your job search. It may take longer, but I'm sure you'll find something.
