LPN Program in Jeopardy of Closure

Published

I am currently a Student Nurse of Marion Community School of Practical Nursing in Indiana. We learned on Thursday morning (on the front page of the newspaper mind you) that our program is in jeopardy of closing. This program has been an asset to the community for the past 54 years. While we are told this closure should not affect the graduating class of 2012, our futures are still uncertain. We are not sure whether our instructors will stay throughout the remainder of the school year, as they have families to care for and may need to secure other employment.

I come to this website asking for any advice....we plan to attend the Board's next meeting united with past and present students to plead for our program and provide them with the human element. We want to show them the lives this program has impacted. Any help from anyone would be much appreciated. We are kind of reeling at the moment and need to spring into action, as the meeting is March 14!

Anyone have any thoughts?

What is the reason they say they may close the program? If it's purely fiscal I doubt anything will change their mind, but you never know. Schools are cutting programs all across the country.Good Luck.

I'm pretty certain it's about dollars and cents. And I also agree that there probably isn't much that will change the mind of the Board. I'm not going down without a fight!!
