LPN program here I come!

Published

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I took my test to try to get into the LPN program. I did really well on the reading part and failed by 5 points for the math portion so my advisor is setting me up with a tutor on T/Th from 10:30am-1:00pm to be able to take the retest. I haven't done any type of math for almost 5 years and I had to rush last night to finish and was still late to class. I was docked 15 minutes :(. The next night class to start will be in September, but it gives me a chance to make some money. I got offered a position not only as a nutrition aide at the hospital but as a receptionist twice a week. Both positions are (PRN) so basically I tell them when I'm available and they see whether or not they need me. I'm so happy that I finally got some answers from my advisors, my credits for MA will not transfer over to the LPN program. The only class I took that will is Microcomputer applications. I will end up paying about $22,000 instead of $23,750. So my payments will go down a little bit. I know it seems expensive but it's one of the only schools around here offering the LPN course that doesn't usually have a waiting list and since I'm already an attending student I'm almost guarenteed to get a seat as long as I retake the math test and pass it by September. I just wanted to say thank you to you all who have helped me make this decision. I don't think I will regret it at all and since my soon to be hubby is making more money at his new job, I will only have to work about 20-25 hours a week and can concentrate more on my classes. Did any of you work while you were in school? It might be harder for those who have, but I know some women who are working 40 hours a week and going to school so part-time may not be as bad. Well I'll stop babbling, I'm just so excited about this. I'm gonna do the retest and pass with flying colors hopefully!

Care_bear...sorry about the math bit, but you are lucky that they will work with you.

I did not work during my LPN course, but did when I went back for my RN. I managed!

Good luck!

Suebird :p

I am lucky tha they are willing to work with me, I think it may be because I am already a student and have a very high GPA. Some of the other girls I've talked to who failed the math test were not allowed to retest.
