LPN Hours?

Hi everyone! Just wondering what kind of hours LPNs work. I was pursuing my BSN at a state university but at this point in time due to scheduling and money I will be starting with my LPN and doing a bridge program. I have a two year old so the hours are a big concern for me, can anyone give me an overview of some possible work schedules? I would greatly appreciate it!

    It all depends on where you become employed. The long term care facility I work for has 8 hour shifts that run from 7a-3p, 3p-11p and 11p-7a. Some do 12 hour shifts. If you work at a clinic or docs office your work hours would follow along with the office hours. There are no set in stone hours an LPN (or any nurse for that matter) works.

    Work weekend doubles from 645 am to 1130 pm. I only work sat and Sunday and i am given 8 extra hours a week added to my check to complete 40 hours. I like it. It gives me all week off unless i want to grab an extra shift or two for overtime.

    Another option for you is Mollen clinics. They do immunization clinics. They have contracts with walmart and so on to come in give flu shots and whatever else someone might need. You schedule your own time so its very versatile.

    Every place is different.This week I worked 4 evenings, one day off,two day shifts,an evening,a day off and then a 12 hour day.

    If you want to get hired, make sure that you are available 24/7. That means finding a sitter who is available 24/7. If you walk into an interview and start talking about how you cannot work such and such because you have a kid, you can guarantee you will be unemployed.

    Find at least three reliable sitters.
