LPN CORE

From what I understand I know some of the core consists of CPR, history of nursing, OSHA, CDC, HAZMAT stuff like that. Maybe injections too. Not sure on that one. I am starting on the 26 as well but at ATC your sister school. So let me know how it goes for you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but I 'm not positive on all of it. I do know that most of the core is computer work. That's what our nursing director told me. The best thing to do would be to ask your director at your school next week. I went ahead and started working in my Memmler's just so I was a lil ahead but I think we are gonna start in the other book. The one thats like 3 or 4 inches thick. That one begins with the history of nursing so if you want to get head start I would start reading over that one. Good Luck. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback and good luck to you as well...I'm going to pick up my books tomorrow so that i cna start studying some of the material. I'm nervous, but i think i'll be ok once I actually start.

I'm new to allnurses.com and also staarting LPN in October 26,2009 @ Sheridan Technical Center. I have no idea about the medical field and this is all new to me. I have wanted to know what do the Core coures consit of? Thanks

yes, i pretty much was able to get everything needed for this first term---thanks to WIA.

with my voucher i was able to get all of my books----except the core book and a book that was listed as a suggestion. i got 2 sets of uniforms, supplies, and shoes.

in ref to the suggested book--- i found it online and was able to download it for free.

Pouty, i cant use private messinging as yet because i recently signed up. Regarding the email i really wish i would have asked Ms. ********. I have completed the WIA requirements, but when my took my registration slip to wia they told me that core is not covered and i needed to come back once im done with core. I will get the form from her tomorrow. I still need just about everything hoping WIA or financial aid comes through for me. See you tomorrow. I will be at the school early.

did you initially get the registration slip from ms. ********? since you already paid for core, i dont think they would be able to give you a refund or anything like that. instead of going back and forth with these posts, we

could definitely talk more about it @ lunch or if we get some sort of break during school tomorrow.

i dont mind helping you out and letting you know what you could and cant get from wia.

i will be getting there early too. i want to make sure i get a parking spot, find the classroom and get mentally ready for my first day. i hope i could sleep tonite!
