Loyola ABSN Fall 2010

Published

Anyone applying to Loyola's ABSN for the Fall? I haven't seen a thread for it yet.

I just received an e-mail from them encouraging me to apply. I probably won't cuz their min cumulative GPA req is 3.0. Mine is somewhere around 2.8. They told me that they also look at other things such as LORs, extracurricular activities, etc.

I'm sure lots of people with way better qualification than me are applying there so I probably won't stand a chance.

What are your stats, if you don't mind?

well one thing about it is that the application is free... though i know applications require alot of time, if you have a personal statement you can tweak and re-use at least you wont have to pay to apply. Who knows! the fact that the app was free encouraged me to apply lol.

I have a 3.36 overall GPA from my Bachelor's degree, and my pre-reqs are 3.8. i'm an out of state student from texas looking to leave the lone-star state for good lol.

we are complete opposites lol. I'm trying go out of state to south somewhere where the weather is warm. I looked into ABSN program in every state except CA, TX, NY, NJ because I thought due to higher population, the schools in those states would be extremely competitive. Are Texas schools really competitive?

i really have no clue about texas schools because i didn't apply to any lol. i dont think they are REALLY easy to get into though because I know of A LOT of people applying to schools that have a few spaces. but i can't be 100% sure because i never actually looked into it. only school i know about is Baylor (which is where i went for undergrad) and they have an ABSN program with only 16 spots and it isn't highly publicized. i applied to mostly schools in states you aren't looking at lol (NY, NJ, PA) and Loyola is the only IL school i applied to.

I am looking into applying for the fall. I am from Texas also, and I am ready to go somewhere new such as Chicago! I will be graduating from Texas A&M in August with a degree in Nutrition, and minor in Chemistry. I am still debating about applying to medical school, but I think I rather do nursing for several reasons.

ezzybreezy-

i totally understand you on the moving away thing lol. i was originally pre-med as well

i would like to apply, and i would definitely attend if I got in, but I won't actually have my degree until after May, does anyone know if it is a requirement to have your degree at the time of application?

That's a good question. I've run into a couple of people on here in that particular situation but for a different school... so I don't know for sure. Have u tried talking to the prospective student advisor for the nursing school? Her name is Nicole and email address are on the website. She usually gets back to me pretty quickly when I have a question. I actually visited the school a couple of weeks ago and got a chance to meet with her.

anyone applying to the program heard anything yet on a decision/or been awarded an interview?
