Low score in writing portion of gre

Hi everyone I recently took the gre for crna school and did pretty good on the vocab portion (159) and all right

on the math portion (145). However I did pretty bad on the writing part of the exam (2.5)

does that really matter? I really do not want to retake the gre because of the writing portion, but if will adversly affect

my chances to get into alot of programs I guess I would retake it.

I have heard different things. Mostly I have heard that many programs only look at the verbal/math and don't care about the written. I would call programs you are thinking to apply to and ask them what a competitive score is, or what was the average for the last cohort they admitted.

It depends on the school. Some have you take the GRE as a formality, others use it for criteria to cut you out of the applicant pool, others actually care about your scores. Figure out what the schools you're looking at fall under from the above list and then decide. Your scores, using the old vs. new GRE comparison chart, were very similar to mine, and I think I did well too. It would stink to have to take it again just for the writtten portion if you don't absolutely have to.

I know for my program, you absolutely had to have a 3.5 or better, or you weren't even given a second look.

If you have to take it again, make sure you do plenty of practice essays so you're more prepared the next time around. They seem silly, but it helped me a lot.
