Lost notice of passing.. Please help me

Published

Hi I'm a foreign nurse residing In the Philippines.. I passed the nclex last may 2009 and received a letter from Bon California that I indeed passed the test. However I never got the chance to get my license because I don't have an Ssn.. Making my file inactive. Now my current employer is asking for a proof that i Indeed passed the test.. Is there a way to show him that I passed even without the notice of passing? Also I've read somewhere before that they destroy inactive files.. Is that still true? Do I need to retake nclex? Thanks

I take it that you are still in the Phils? And that you need to provide the NCLEX proof of passing to meet their employment requirements in that you may be employed there in some sort of medical related job, such as a call center, medical transcription etc?

Have you e-mailed to the CA BRN to request another copy of the letter itself? Or may be they can provide some other sort of documentation to show that you're NCLEX passer? Good luck, keep us posted so that in the future, this will help others.

Yes I emailed them but still haven't received any reply. Tried calling them but their line is always busy. And yes in still in the Philippines and applying for a bpo kind of job.

How long ago did you email them? It can take a couple of weeks or so and that's not guaranteed. You might just want to follow up again if the weeks have gone by already. If you call, try to call them a few minutes before 8 a.m. PST, keep trying early.

Have you tried to see if your name appears on the CA BRN website, you might try to put in your name and see if it appears, if it does, not sure if it can be printed out or show the hiring manager the website and there's your name (hopefully). It may show "inactive", but at least it means you also passed, just misplaced the paperwork.

Do you have any plans to work in the States?

i just emailed them last week, i guess ill just have to wait. thanks for the tip though... their lines are always busy.

i tried using BreEze but my name didnt come up... i think it has something to do with me having no SSN.

yeah i got plans to work in the states if given the opportunity...

i keep telling my employer that the notice of passing isnt required in endorsing the license to texas... and that's what the verfication for licensure is for...

i dont have to retake the NCLEX again right? ive heard that they destroy inactive files... is this true?

and i forgot to mention that ive never receive my license or license number because i dont have the SSN... i wish they could just include the names of the passers in their website even without an SSN...

my main concern is that do they still have my NCLEX results?

Hmmmm, I'm not sure just because you're an "inactive" nurse, that your name doesn't show up despite not having a SS#. If anything, should just show up as "inactive". Try a different combo of names, maybe it's been mis-spelled?

You don't have to re-take the NCLEX-RN again, that's the good news.

The bad news is that in CA, there's a 8 year limitation from the date and year of the NCLEX passing to get your files completed for whatever reasons that was holding up (to clear all the requirements and having the SS# is one of them). There's also the chance that upon the re-application at that 8th year or beyond whether or not, the dreaded concurrency rules will be applied. My gut feeling is "yes". You would be applying as a first-time applicant all over again.

As the CA BRN looks more and more into the Phils applicants, there may also be issues with sufficient courses or clinical hours.

In fact, you should just in the case, you do need to re-apply, get copies of your signed clinical cases today, make sure you can get them authenticated from your school, as the CA BRN (and who knows if other states in the future may want to review them due to the fraud cases coming over from the Phils).

Yes, the CA BRN does destroy the old files, just not the NCLEX results.

Just have your NCEX results sent to TX then. There's other postings here on how to do.

whew thanks a lot! as long as my nclex results are safe im good! ill just have to convince my employer that i indeed passed the nclex haha

Just because your file is inactive doesn't mean you can find name on BRN website under inactive. You was never issued a license therefore you will not see your name on the BRN website until you submit US SSN

Hi i was wondering if you ever got another copy of your notice of passing from California BON? I also lost my copy and I took the exam way back May 2008. If you did get another copy, can you please enlighten me on the process? Thanks.

Please I am having an issue on this too. Passed my nclex Jan. 2008 and applied in CA BON. I already emailed them a few weeks ago and no reply. Tried to contact them by phone but was on hold for 2 hours so i gave up. Is there a way on how to get a copy of that pass letter? I've been working as a RN outside the US since 2008 up to present. For some reason i can't find a form from the CA BON on the request for an nclex pass letter. Please enlighten me with this one. I don't want to get to that hassle of retaking and sitting for the exam again.
