Looking for an Entry Level MSN Program

Hello everyone,

My name is Pamela and I'm new to this community! I am beginning to look for entry level MSN programs, but I am feeling extremely overwhelmed with narrowing down schools or how it might even work. Are we forced to pick out a specialty before even doing clinical rotations? Because if so I have no idea what specialty I would even want to complete. Hence, why I am feeling overwhelmed. If anyone can just give me some insight or words of encouragement from experienced applicants I would greatly appreciate it ?

If you're talking about entry to practice MSN programs- there is no specialization. You are studying to pass the NCLEX and become an RN- just like ADN and BSN grads.

Entry to practice MSN programs are (in my opinion) overpriced for what you actually get. Even if you have a previous bachelor's, the smart option is a community college ADN- about a tenth the cost of the MSN and possibly even faster, or a BSN program (which will also likely be less costly).

You gain really nothing be being an MSN new grad except excessive debt. Again, my opinion but I've been a nurse for 40+ years, have worked in higher ED and know a thing or two.

I guess you need to know what is your goal, getting that MSN and becoming an entry-level nurse? Management/leadership? Education?  Because if you don't know, you will pay a  very high price for that MSN and be working side by side with BSN/ADN-prepared nurses, at the bottom rung, just like everyone else.

Good luck.
