Looking for an Accelerated nursing program with no/low GPA requirement

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a ABSN program that has a low or no minimum GPA requirement. I am looking in any state and internationally. I have a 2.4 cumulative GPA but have found most programs in my area (ny/nj) require a 3.0 I am willing to relocate. Please let me know if you have any programs you could recommend.

    The lowest I have seen is a 2.75 GPA. That is the minimum requirement. Most accepted students have GPAs well above the minimum. Good luck, but I believe you are going to have a hard time finding a program with that low of a minimum GPA and a low number of applications that your GPA will get you accepted. Rumor is that we will have over 100 applicants for 30 spots for next summer's start date. I am sure that the top 30 will have GPAs well over 3.0.

    Nursing programs have become so competitive, because of the demand, that even programs that publish a minimum GPA of 3.0 or 2.5 are not actually accepting anyone with GPAs that low -- because they have so many applicants with much higher GPAs that they never work their way that far down into the applicant pool. The last BSN program in which I taught (a traditional BSN program, not an accelerated program) said in all the literature that they required a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be eligible, but the reality was that no one with less than a 3.6 got accepted (and the school administration was v. proud of that!) because they had so many applicants with a 3.6 or above that they could afford to pick and choose. I'm sorry to not have any better news, but I agree that you're probably not likely to find a program that will take you with your current GPA. Accelerated programs are typically more demanding and choosy than traditional programs -- have you considered just applying to traditional BSN programs or ADN programs? You might have a better shot there. Best wishes for your journey!

    It would be best to retake courses to raise your GPA. That is what I had to do. I live in Seattle, WA and there are a bunch of nursing schools here. You would not be able to get into them with that low of a GPA. It is so competitive there may be well over 100 applications for 30 spots. Now, that being said. Seattle Central Community college takes on a first come, first serve basis......I'm not sure what their min GPA req is though. You would have to look.

    Consider asking about probationary access and using pre-requisits and co- courses to boost your cumulative average. . Overall grades and grades related to the program rule. Go with your A game. Be positive. Let us know.:yes:
