Hi everyone,
Ok so I am very interested in the LRP for the Navy or the Army, but I have a question regarding the loans that will be repaid. So I graduated from college with a Psych degree and a small amount of debt ($13,000). The following year I returned to the same college to complete nursing school and have a lot of debt because of it. Am I eligible for the Loan Repayment Program? If I am and enter the military for Nursing and use the LRP instead of the GI bill, will the LRP pay off the loans from my first degree as well (both degrees together are under the $65,000 cap)? I hope that it does, but I could see them only paying for the debt incurred from the schooling leading to my military job.
Thanks for all the help!
Sorry I meant the health professionals loan repayment program not the lrp for enlisted as I would go in commissioned (right?), which has a cap of $120,000. My first degree contained all my per-requisite courses for my BSN if that makes a difference.

If you can get in, the Army is over-strength for new nurses right now...
Dang, I've been thinking about joining the military since I was in high school so I was hoping as I new nurse I finally could. I think I'm going to talk to a recruiter and see what my option are, maybe the right time to join will be later down the road then. Thanks for your help.

The Army is looking for two years of experience at this time. Things change all the time, but the Army will be overstrength for some time to come, I think. But if I recall correctly, my roommate at officer basic used loan repayment two pay off both of her degrees, one of which was a non-nursing degree.
Good luck in your nursing program!
