Loan Help for Accelerated Students

Published

I am starting the Accelerated Nursing program at MDC in the fall and I am trying to sort out student loans, etc. The financial aid office said that they do not certify private loans because they do not consider it a high cost program... does that mean that if I need a loan beyond a Stafford Loan (if my pettition is accepted) that I won't be able to get any type of student loan, just a private loan not associated with a school?? I am so confused.

What have other people done who were not eligible financial aid because they already had an undergraduate degree? What have people done for loans for living expenses above and beyond the cost of the tuition? Any specific banks that might be good to go to? Thanks.

I'm not sure any banks are willing to give money freely like that anymore. You really need to have some type of savings or perhaps keep your job until it becomes absolutely necessary to quit.

I agree. I think banks are now more concerned with whether they think you will be able to pay them back. I got denied but pretty much every private collegiate loan lender. So I am only using Fed Direct Loans.

Try the WIA program..It is needs based you need to show some barrier to employment exists but they cover books, tuition, gas and supplies. try a search to find out more
