LNA Program Help

U.S.A. New Hampshire

Hi Everyone - I am new to All Nurses but I'm glad I found it because I am in the process of trying to decide between a couple of LNA programs. I know that the reputation of LNA Health Careers and Med Pro are both really good in the community but I am also looking into the Red Cross in Concord, Health Care Training Associates in Manchester and Hearts and Minds in Derry. If any of you LNAs out there could tell me where you took your course, why you chose it, if you liked it etc. that would be most helpful! Also, I'd like any info on any school you may have even if you didn't take your class there.

Thanks for helping me make the best decision!

I did my through LNA health careers, but the main reason was b/c the schedule fit with my life better than the other schedules. And I had a great experience through them as well, with an awesome instructor!

LOVE the Red Cross program in Portsmouth.

If you're thinking of going on to your LPN, HCTA would be the place to go.

Good luck!

I'm also new to this website and I must tell you I've been reading the posts a lot lately. I just dropped out of the Dental Hygiene program and now I'm thinking to get into the LNA program at the red cross. I wonder how difficult the LNA really is. I couldn't handle dental hygiene because the amount of work and having a family didn't mix. I have always wanted to be a nurse but after going through what I just went through with dental I don't think I should jump into becoming an RN or something like that, I think is better to start as an LNA and make my way up. What do you people think?

Well LNA is a good place to start to see if you'll enjoy nursing. I have two young kids and I went to LNA school for 4 days per week, 5 hours per day. And 11 days of clinicals for a total of 60 clinical hours. I made it work and I can make a job work with my family too. I plan to go on for my LPN next fall. Good luck.

5 hours/ 4 days a week that's pretty much what I'll be doing. Did you attendd for 9 weeks too? what is the exam like, do they schedulle a group of students to take the exam or is it by appointment? I have so many questions...as you may see I don't know much about the process. Thank you for your response

I'm doing my LNA course through the American Red Cross, Great Bay Chapter. It is ~9 weeks. After 60 hours of clinicals (which for us was 10 days at 6 hours per day) you'll take your Red Cross LNA final exam. Pass that and a few days later you'll take your state board exam and clinical exam. Pass that and you'll get your license number by e-mail within a month. Work at a LTC facility in NH post graduation and you'll be refunded your tuition.

I don't know where you're located, but he's the Great Bay ARC LNA website:
