Linfield ABSN 2019-2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello!

With the application deadline for Linfield's Summer ABSN start behind us, I figured I would start a new topic for those who applied for the 2019-2020 cycle so we can keep each other in the loop if/when we hear back from this program and provide support during this painful waiting time.

I applied to both Linfield and OHSU(PDX) for ABSN, and have not yet applied to Concordia's ABSN program.

Since Concordia has a few additional requirements I was hoping to first see if I can make it into either one of these programs before reassessing and tackling those additional requirements ( 2nd Chem class, Kaplan exam, CNA)

Who else has applied to Linfield and is waiting to hear back? Any other schools you are waiting to hear back from? Top preferences?

Looking forward to hearing from folks, hoping we will be able to get it started this summer!

Hi!

Thanks for starting the thread. I applied to OHSU's ABSN and Linfield as well. OHSU would be my top choice, but I'm trying to keep my expectations low since it is so competitive. I also applied to PCC, MHCC, and CCC. Fingers crossed someone will take me!

Thanks for your response! Same here, crossing fingers and hoping I can get started this summer/fall. I don't think I made the OHSU cut since I have not received the email invitation for the interviews. I think I have a much better shot at Linfield since their decision factor weighs more heavily on Pre-req GPA, with the highest factor going to A&P GPA, then general sciences, then all other pre-reqs.

I believe their decisions go out between Mid-March-April. The wait is difficult, particularly because I would be moving to PDX if I got accepted.

I talked to Mindy (Linfield) and she said if you have over 3.5 prereq GPA then you are "competitive". Linfield's ABSN start time is pretty tricky if you have to move, I wish there was a fall start option for that program.

That is good to know, I have a 3.8 Prereq GPA for their calculation, and volunteer experience, but it is not medical. Hoping they do send out letters by mid-march and that I am not on a waitlist so I can start working on moving up.

I also applied to Linfield and OHSU ABSN programs as well as OHSU’s 3-yr and ABSN-to-DNP program. I was feeling great about how positive I’ve remained throughout this app cycle...until today. It’s too early for rejections, but I submitted my last app and the reality of the dreaded waiting period hit me like a ton of bricks. I’m not sure if these messages boards help or not, but here I am.

The message boards help me know that I am not alone in my struggle or worries. We all fear rejection and inevitably it will happen to some of us for some programs (I didn't hear back from OHSU ABSN, sounds like they already sent out interview invitations). Hang tight, we should all be getting some news in about a months time.

Just to give everyone an update, Mindy told me they are going to try and send out letters by March 20th, if they get them completed sooner they will send out sooner, but they should be in the mail by this date!

Thanks for the update, bhosk. My palms are really sweating now.

Same!

Just received my acceptance the Summer 2019 cohort at Linfield! (No interview? ?‍♀️)

I’m in shock, y’all! It’s been such a long journey as a non-trad student. I could type at length about this, but I wanted to update you that letters are being received. Can’t wait to meet my class!!!

Congratulations! I checked my mail yesterday hoping to see a letter, but nothing yet. Hopeful to have some good news when I get home this evening, but I live in Eugene and it may even be until tomorrow till I know.
