Life After Termination?

So I was terminated from my position in May...I had two jobs, so while it was awful - I haven't had any problems with pay or anything (thank goodness!). What I'm curious about - I found a great opportunity for a school nurse (I'm a peds RN)...but what are the odds of getting hired after a termination?

(I've never been terminated before and am just so so afraid that I won't ever get another job.) I have good work history (minus the termination :uhoh21:) - 3 years at my current job, 2 years at the one before that.

I have excellent references and letters of recommendation from my supervisors at my current hospital.

I would imagine that it would depend on why you were terminated. If its due to some restructuring or downsizing with the economy it should be fairly easy. Good luck!

while to some extent it depends on why, for example anything reported to the BON, stealing, violence, etc. may hinder you. A wise person once explained to me almost everyone gets fired at least once in their career. I have been fired many times due to a type A personality working under weak leadership (told supervisors what they were doing wrong and how to improve things) and it has never kept me from getting work. Just have a good answer to the question why were you terminated from this position that does not seem negative or accusatory and move on. spin it into a positive learning experience and that you are a better more educated employee now because of it. if you dont mind me asking why were you fired? it will help us all give you better advice.

It had nothing to do with the actual job - I was termination for unprofessionalism with coworkers. Unfortunatly, like you - I didn' tmuch get along with the weak management - and although I wasn't the only one involved in the conversation, I was the only one terminated. (With no other warnings/writeups etc.) Which is unfortunate...because I had a GREAT record at that job.

Because you didn't have other writeups I think it should be ok. Just explain what happened as long as you didn't get fired because of a screaming match it should be ok.

Does a potential employer have the right to details of a prior termination. How do I go about contesting or grieving the termination???:madface::madface::madface:
